There now exist a number of well managed organisations and websites, dedicated to the plight of the billions of people in our world who are suffering from hunger, poverty, disease, lack of education, AIDS/HIV and other injustices and hardships.
These organisations no longer request money and donations from us, as we are all only too aware how often our finances and well meaning donations are siphoned off to corrupt government leaders and officials. The tack now being taken by the world wide drives such as the "Make Poverty History" and the "Micah Challenge", are well worth our taking note of and observing what they are achieving through everyday people like you and I.
Our governments and indeed the world governments are now being asked by millions of ordinary people through the our Internet links, to honor the "Eight Millennium Goals" that every country in the world signed in the year 2000. Those eight goals were a pledge to halve poverty throughout the world by the year 2015.
How are these organisations, you and I doing that?
Working with these well organised campaigners and using the web, millions of men, women and children are now contacting their government ministers through mass emails. Well organised global campaigns by these concerned organisations invite millions of people to coordinated their efforts through the web and Internet and the campaigns that are organised invite you and your families, your schools, churches, communities, towns, cities and countries, to take part. Now, millions of people are becoming aware of the plights of our starving and poor and are now making their governments accountable for the poverty and injustices in the world.
Recently there have been the very successful global campaigns such as the "Stand up for Poverty" and the "Gulu Walk", which were responsible for global awareness of the plight of millions of starving people. The success of these campaigns is largely due to the power of the Internet and the instant link we have with one another throughout our world today.
Researching and ensuring that one is involved and aware of global campaigns taking place, can be a time consuming exercise. Then there is also the need to constantly update and ensure one is getting the latest information.
So, on this "Does Jesus Surf" website, we are attempting to monitor as many of these worthwhile world campaigns as is possible. If you wish to use our website, please do so as a means of keeping informed as to what what is taking place globally and how you can make a difference. We are attempting to keep the different campaigns summarised in one website.
